Meet Elixir Games, the team behind Elixir
Elixir Games was born in 2018 with the vision of creating new gaming experiences based on the new possibilities that blockchain and crypto technologies were bringing to the industry. We have been leading Bitcoin Gaming since then, with milestones like the launch of the first instant micro-reward game Platform, the implementation of Liquid NFTs and the creation of top-quality titles like LightNite.
Elixir Games is now facing a new extraordinary project: expanding our technological reach to offer all Play2Earn game developers the environment and tools to easily finance and create P2E games as well as helping them address the growing community of crypto-gamers.
Back in 2018 Elixir Games gave birth to the first Lightning micro-reward Gaming Platform (currently non-maintained https://play.satoshis.games), containing a dozen 8-bit style games that offered bitcoin micro-rewards in a scalable way thanks to the 2nd layer Lightning Network. A cheered and promising start to introduce real liquid rewards in games, which encouraged us to create a really high-quality game joining a great gaming experience and rewarding users' engagement with the game.
That was the start of LightNite, a crypto-version of Fornite that started its development in late 2019 and presented its first prototype a few months later with an attractive low-poly cartoonish design that the community loved. The game progressively included PvE, PvP and Battle Royale game modes, and reached the beta stage in 2021. LightNite is one of the most developed crypto-games today in terms of game mechanics and design, gathers a healthy user base and plans to be released by December 2021.
Another milestone for Elixir Games was the development of a standard for Liquid-based NFTs on games, together with Blockstream. This standard allowed us to tokenize in-game assets on bitcoin native games, create provable supplies of skins, as well as confer ownership properties to our users. LightNite tokenized their skins in 2020 as the first step to creating a Liquid gaming NFT marketplace.
Along with an NFT marketplace was launched as the first component of the broader Elixir Gaming Platform, helping thousands of users trade their Liquid NFTs, and purchase goods with their stacked sats.
Elixir Games' latest milestone was the release in June 2021 of the first Game Launcher exclusively for crypto-games, as a second component of the Elixir Platform is starting to be populated with new crypto-games, counting currently 16 games between pc, mobile and browser. A Developer Console has also been developed to help developers integrate their games easily in Elixir.
We presented our Desktop Game Launcher at the BTC 2021 conference in Miami. Elixir received the award for the best tool for blockchain adoption in the gaming category, as seen in the picture below with some relevant people who were in the judging panel like Tim Draper from Drapper Associates, Paul Veradittakit from Pantera Capital or Oleg Mikhalsky from Fulgur Ventures.
Elixir Games transitioned from a web-based to a desktop platform, marking a substantial shift in its operational model. This move, coupled with a rebranding to Elixir Games launcher and a focus on B2C distribution, signified a strategic alignment with market needs. The platform opened up SDKs, initially developed for Light Nite and Tinies, to other game partners, enabling a rapid onboarding of games from a variety of blockchain ecosystems like Solana, Polygon, BNB, and IMX.
We introduced a freemium plan for game partners, valid for 12 months. During this phase, the platform saw the addition of numerous features including social elements, multiple chain support, content creator features, private distribution systems, patch notes, and tournament systems. These initiatives not only enriched the platform's offering but also bolstered its position as a go-to market for web3 games.
Following Elixir's growth in 2022. Seeing the value the platform brought to the market and with Elixir's projected future growth, Square Enix made the decision to invest and be a key partner in the platform's development and growth.
But it wasn't just Square Enix that saw the growth potential of Elixir. Other public companies such as GameStop decided to join in and use Elixir's technology for their own products.
On a technical level, the platform has advanced by leaps and bounds. A new high quality UI, new payment features, overlay, light and pro mode for gamers and cryptocurrency lovers were created.
This strategic acquisition for Elixir Games mirrors successful growth strategies of industry giants such as Steam, with its ownership of 'CS:GO,' and Epic Games, the proprietor of 'Fortnite.' By acquiring LitLab Games, Elixir Games not only strengthens its position in the gaming market, but enriches its diverse portfolio, emulating the most successful models in the game launcher sector.
With the inclusion of 'CyberTitans,' Elixir Games now proudly oversees three major titles, including Tinies,' a mobile game known for its fast-paced and casual battles, 'No Way Back,' a whimsical, cartoon-style ninja battle royale, and the newly added 'CyberTitans,' an esports-oriented strategy auto-battler game. This acquisition is another significant step in Elixir Games' mission to become a powerhouse in the gaming industry.
2024 will be by far Elixir's most disruptive and most newsworthy year. We can't wait to tell you more.
